Anxiety is an emotion that we all experience and, while uncomfortable, is not inherently bad or wrong. From the beginning of time, anxiety has served as a survival mechanism that helps keep us safe from actual threats. Anxiety is not always helpful, though. Some people experience excessive amounts of anxiety, in the presence of little to no threat, that impairs their ability to function across various domains: school, work, relationships, family, etc.

HOW WE TREAT ANXIETY
Freedom from anxiety is possible! We utilize evidence-based treatment modalities and offer an integrated approach to treating anxiety disorders: metacognitive therapy (thinking about our thinking) to address errors in reasoning that keep a person stuck in anxiety symptoms, mindfulness skills training to help a person non-judgmentally observe intrusive thoughts, feelings, sensations, etc. without engaging with them in unhelpful ways, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to promote values-based living, and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) that focuses on gradually facing feared stimuli while simultaneously cutting out compulsive and compensatory rituals.
